How did that happen?!

I was knitting along, not paying much attention to actually how much I had left to do in anticipation of the color work section.



The stranding came and went.



Then, all of the sudden, I was binding off.



Voila!



The body is complete, along with a pair of sleeves.

I have been swatching for the Bohus.  Because this project is knit-in-the-round and my knitted stitches are usually tighter than my purl stitches, I decided to cast on using a 16" circular needle and swatch-in-the-round, too.   I also took the opportunity to test out how well the colors work together using one of the colorwork charts for the design.

Eadon in this Cascade Eco Cloud is just flowing like thick luscious cream from my needles.

Thirteen inches in length and counting!  But for that full-time-day-job-thing I might have had this done by now, it has only been two days.

The yarn and ribbing are a nice distraction for some of life's difficulties. 

It is definitely going on the weekend's road trip!!

Step One:  Check!

Okay, that was more fun than I can remember having in a long time, at least while the sun was still shining.

The shops were full of wonderful goodies and smiling faces, at least those shops that we managed to avoid visiting at the same time as those darn buses!

The Ayana sweater I started, oh, in November last year, on my way to a funeral, now has sleeves.  Unfortunately, they are not yet attached.  But, the knitting is done!




As with most things, I got a little distracted.

Accompanying two of them was the most thoughtful basket full of fabric, flowers, a monogrammed vase, wind chimes, and all sorts of wonderful goodies.

Upon seeing it, my immediate thought went to food.  I asked myself, at the time:  "Wouldn't this make the perfect bread basket?"

This sweater was actually finished several months ago, but I never took proper pictures of it.  I have worn it a half a dozen times, so far.  The sleeves appear long here, but I cuff them and they are perfect!

Blond cookies that is!

White Chocolate Cookies


1 cup (2 sticks) sweet cream butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 tsp Amaretto (yum!)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup oatmeal
3 cups (16 oz) white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Beat butter and sugar before adding the eggs and Amaretto.

White Chocolate Bread Pudding!

I used the Palace Cafe's recipe, but made just a few small additions.

For the bread, I used 2 1/2 loaves of grocery store French bread and completely cut all the crust off before cutting the soft inside into cubes.  I let them dry out on a cookie sheet for a day or so.

Chewy Chocolate Cookies
12 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1 stick sweet cream butter
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extra
8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

First up are the Feisty Socks.






These socks are knit from the toe up and feature short-row heels and picot cuffs, as well as an addictive lacy mock-cable stitch design. It is a quick and fun knit. The pattern is written for both fingering and sport weight yarns in three sizes each: small, medium, and large.

The yarn I have been dyeing is Kona Superwash DK.  As I needed to order some Glauber salt (it is supposed to create a more uniform dye strike), I decided to try a different yarn base.  The above is Gaia Worsted.  The Kona and Gaia are both 100% merino superwash; however, the Kona seems a bit shinier.
